On the road to Calvary one good woman did a very brave act of kindness for Jesus.

Presentation

Jesus, a Man of Sorrows

With Simon’s help Jesus continued on His way to Calvary. By this time He was extremely exhausted. His body was covered with wounds and sores. His feet were torn and cut. Blood from the wounds in His head flowed down His face. Sin had done its work; it had made the God-Man physically weak and utterly exhausted. (Show picture of Sixth Station)

Veronica’s Kind Deed

A good woman named Veronica then did a very kind thing for Jesus. Touched with pity, she took a cloth and wiped the blood from His poor face. To reward her for her good deed, Jesus left a picture of Himself in the cloth. How Veronica must have treasured this.

Ways We Can Imitate  Veronica

Can you think of any ways we can imitate Veronica’s kindness? We too can help our suffering Jesus. We can soothe Him in His sorrows by wiping away the sins that keep us from Him. We can be kind and good and grateful.

• Was she afraid of the soldiers?
• How did Jesus feel after Veronica did this kind deed?
• How did Jesus show His thanks for the act of kindness?

• Be helpful at home, especially when your parents are tired.
• Do something kind to someone at home, and in school today.

• Discuss ways in which we can show that we are good Catholic children
• Picture study of the sixth Station
• Compose and chart an original prayer.
